Planned Parenthood makes a big deal about a woman’s right to choose. The face of their organization is all about choice: Vote “pro-choice,” they say. “My Body, My Choice.”

But these familiar slogans are deceptive.

If you go on Planned Parenthood’s website or walk into their clinics, you will find only one choice promoted: abortion. Planned Parenthood does not boost adoption, emotional support, prenatal care, parenting education, pregnancy resources, or childbirth.

Planned Parenthood doesn’t seem to understand the definition of choice… offering only one item on the menu is not a choice at all.

You might think, isn’t it the same with crisis pregnancy centers? People who are pro-life also only offer one choice: giving birth, right?

It is true that we do not consider abortion the right choice. But what may surprise you is that we care about “choice” even more than Planned Parenthood.

The Deepest Choice

How can pregnancy centers care about a woman’s choice? Listed below are some reasons why Choices Pregnancy Centers more powerfully support the freedom of choice:

From the beginning, Planned Parenthood had no problem calling abortion murder. Straight up. The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, famously said, “The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.” Not exactly Hallmark card-worthy.

Let’s be honest; what does Sanger’s charming sentiment have to do with choice? The choice to extinguish life? The choice to silence those who are too weak and vulnerable to defend themselves? How is that a choice?

Although Planned Parenthood does not like to acknowledge a few of Sanger’s darker opinions (though they still honor her as a historical figure), what they are doing, and what they stand for has not changed.

Planned Parenthood, in fact, takes choices away from millions of people.

The child growing inside of you is a human being. Doesn’t he or she deserve a choice?

Adoption opens up a whole new world of choices. Believe it or not, millions of couples long to adopt a baby. Not everyone who wants children can get pregnant. Many adoptive parents have wanted a child for a very long time, so they are willing and able to give your baby an excellent start. This opens up even more choices, such as closed or open adoptions

If you face an unwanted pregnancy, you might feel as if choices are being taken away from you. But countless women have discovered that giving birth and keeping their child is the best choice they ever made, something they would not trade for all the money and freedom in the world. You can choose to hear your baby’s first giggle, watch your child’s first steps, and countless other daily moments.

Even if you are a single parent, you might have a deeper support network than you realize. The people who have supported you in the past are unlikely to abandon you simply because you are expecting a child. Your child can be a huge blessing for the whole family. They are often eager to help take on the responsibility of helping raise your child.

In addition to the assistance you receive from your family, you can count on counselors and support groups in your local area. At Choices Pregnancy Centers, we are happy to help you build up new life skills and parenting support.
