Today’s society speaks out a lot about women’s power and rights. And we can totally get behind that. Women are strong and powerful. They are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139) And while, in many cases, women can do whatever anyone else can do (yes, even men), we can’t help but recognize one unquestionably different power that women have.

Women can bring new life into the world. The last time we checked, that was pretty miraculous.  Only a woman’s body was made to bring forth new life, and – as special as that is – many rush to say that if they do, they’re giving up some of their power and freedom.

We’re here to tell you a different story.

Our culture loudly proclaims that a woman’s right to have an abortion is what gives them freedom – freedom to finish school, travel the world, or maintain their independence. But this sells women short. It implies that women can’t accomplish all of those things if a pregnancy stands in their way.

We believe women are stronger than that.

Pregnancy will bring its own challenges, especially if it wasn’t planned. But the narrative that the world is selling has some errors. Women CAN pursue their dreams and carry pregnancies. They ARE strong enough, and they most definitely DO NOT lose their freedom and rights by nurturing new life.

Don’t just take our word for it, though. A recent study from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis found that working mothers are actually more productive at work than their childless peers. [1] And these 16 famous women’s careers actually took off after they had kids. With names like Reese Witherspoon, Vera Wang, and Tina Fey on that list, it’s hard not to notice that motherhood might not be the dream-killer the world says it is.

Women Deserve Better

We need to stop saying women aren’t strong enough. We should instead empower each other to achieve more – to use our innate femininity for good. Don’t let the world tell you otherwise.

Here are some real-life examples of women that have proven their superhero strength, in spite of the culture claiming that they’re not strong enough to do it all. By sharing their stories, they empower other women to shut out any negative noise the world may offer. Through difficulty, they rose up. Their perseverance and strength are a testament to female fortitude everywhere.
