More on gifts of stocks and other securities
For charitable purposes, a gift of stock must be valued according to specific guidelines. The value of a philanthropic donation of stock is calculated by averaging the high and low stock prices on the gift date. Shares of mutual funds are valued using the fund’s closing price on the day the donation is made.
Please get in touch with us if you have any additional inquiries concerning charitable donations of stocks or securities. We would be pleased to respond to any questions you may have, or help in any way we can.
