DIY Abortion: What You Need to Know

At home abortions carry their own risks. We want to empower you to make an informed and safe decision about your health.

Many women facing an unplanned pregnancy are seeking a quick-fix, do-it-yourself solution.  Their biggest concern is often keeping their situation confidential, which is one of the reasons we’ve seen an uptick in chemical abortions.

In the USA, women can obtain a surgical abortion from a walk-in clinic in certain states. However, recent laws have made it easier for women to obtain the prescription pills for a chemical abortion in the mail – all without leaving the house.

This is very dangerous.

Before any medical procedure, the patient must be prepped and examined by a medical professional. This very important step is overlooked when these prescription pills are handed out via mail. A lab-quality ultrasound should always happen before an abortion – be it surgical or chemical (pills).  Without an ultrasound, there is no proof that the pregnancy is viable or that the pregnancy is, in fact, in the uterus and not ectopic. A DIY mail-order abortion protocol causes severe damage to the uterine lining in order to cut off the nutrient-supply to the baby. If there is no baby in the uterus, this series of pills can unnecessarily cause great harm to the woman. Likewise, an untreated ectopic pregnancy can be dangerous and sometimes fatal for the pregnant mother.

Knowing your choices when faced with an unplanned pregnancy is important. It allows you to make an informed decision that you can feel confident about.  You should never feel rushed into making a choice, or undergoing a medical “procedure” without medical oversight from a licensed physician.
